This was a recent article, and when I saw it it was like I had a good answer on the tip of my tongue but I couldn't quite grab it. Just now I got it though, this one:
No I'm not trolling. Think about this: the Camaro's 3.6 L V6 puts out 324 horsepower, and it weighs a hundred pounds less than the LS3 . Imagine an entry-level Vette, stripped out and light, six speed, three tail pipes. You couldn't have fun in a car with those specs? I've even got a name for the model: the Blue Flame.

Blue flame... I like it. A baby Blue devil!

But the C7 has an LT1 and I don't want a V6 in a Corvette. Just me though, also the name is kind of cheesy. Oh and why 3 pipes?

This...
is actually a really good idea!

It would need to be a sub Vette model
Make it a little smaller and with the cheaper fixed dampers
It could be like Chevy's Cayman.

Chevy considered it once. The C5 FRC was supposed to be a budget V6, instead they turned it into a track monster and eventually called it the Z06

The name "Blue Flame" hearkens back to the rather regrettable power plant in the first-generation Corvette. 4 pipes :: 8 cylinders ~ 3 pipes :: 6 cylinders.

yes this. It would need to be substantially Visually different from the actual Corvette, and not be Named Corvette, so as not to cheapen the Vette.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up, but I still don't really want a V6 'Vette yet being a hypocrite I want a V6 F-Type. Why? Because supercharger
![]() 08/02/2014 at 23:56 |

V8 has four, V6 would need only three. duh.

A fear of mine getting a high horsepower car is accidentily flooring it and loosing control. That's why I like seriously underpowered cars because you get to floor them all the time

Yeah, I realized that.

Intriguing .... I like what you did there with the name.

It might sound blasphemous, but I'd love to see a 300HP Dodge Viper, using a turbocharged I4. They hinted at this a few times with a few concepts, but it never came into production.

If they're shrinking the Camaro like some say, maybe we'll get a better handling caymaro.

When you think about it, that is actually not an awful idea. Mainly for nostalgic reasons, in my opinion, since the LT1-equipped Stingray is an absolutely phenomenal vehicle in almost every aspect. That being said, I couldn't think of a single reason why anybody would want to buy it. Most people in the market for a new Vette would gladly pay the extra money it would cost for the LT1. Maybe if Pontiac were still around, they could use this setup to make a modern day reiteration of the Banshee. If GM would let them, that is.

make it happen GM!
We will buy it
Then we'll later buy the Vette

a v6 'needing' 3 pipes would be weird. There's only one pipe coming from each half of the V usually.
Short of both coming into a single muffler and three decorative tips, it'd be an odd choice.
Still, lightweight v6 rwd making around 300hp could be fun. That's why Hyundai made their entry level Genesis. And the Mustang/Camaros have their v6 bases. But an OEM v6 Vette? Gonna call sacrilege on that one

Haha Caymaro

Their marketing conferences must be awesome.
"So, we're going to add a budget-level V6 model to the line."
"How about we not do that. Let's make a faster one instead!"

IMO, a corvette with a v6 would be treason. But an i6? That I could get behind.

Corvair ?
![]() 08/03/2014 at 00:17 |

Viper. Make it more available that way
![]() 08/03/2014 at 00:24 |

Not necessarily. The purist's don't want to admit it, but the original 'Vette came with a six. It was originally a budget sports car, why not bring it back to it's roots?

Great idea to hook people on the Vette.

Mmm
Tasty
New Corvair would be sweet
Ralph Nader can't kill it this time!

no way!
Very interesting
Makes sense. A lot of famous V8 sports cars started out with a 6 cylinder
![]() 08/03/2014 at 00:50 |

Besides, most of it's competitors have a few engine choices ranging from meh to awesome.

Mid-engined version of this N/A v6 base model. Twin turbo v6 ss model. Manual standard, comes in brown as well.

ok I'm going the be the rainy day here. There is no room for a lower model corvette. The hole aura of the corvette is that its an attainable sports car; as in a, a car that you can work to attain. If you bring the price down to the point that your average burgerking manager can afford it, then it wont have that same level of prestige.
Plus those same cars would fall victim to many terrible modifications. Thats actually a part of why I got rid of my 350z... I dont want to get rid of the Vette.

challenger hellcat 700 hp just seems too much. I would rather add lightness. can you even get 700hp to hookup? would it even be useful on a track? I cant imagine trying to get one out of a corner on acelleration would be very easy.

V6s are not allowed in Corvettes, ever. Straight-six? Awesome. V6? GTFO.

this would just be too awesome
The car gods don't love us enough to give us this...
